Last night was the annual Winter Carnival in Riverton, Wyoming that features a quick-draw and auction. This was my 45 minute guache watercolor painting framed up and ready for the auction. It did quite well in the auction and in fact was top money. It always makes one feel good to come out in one of these events. The 80 mile drive back home was not fun though as the first 35 miles was a raging hard to see blizzard at 25-45 MPH and the next 25 miles just slick with light snow falling. Getting into the mountains it was stars overhead and dry roads. That is Wyoming for you.

Nice painting like always.Don't know how you can do that in 45 minutes. Now quit complaining about Wyoming weather, you could live in Ohio.

This is incredible for 45 minutes. FYI: Oracle, Az. is about 45 minutes north of Tucson. So many cactus everywhere down there!

Congratulations..."top money"! I can see why that is...wonderful painting. Sorry about the snowy commute. That's the type of thing that makes me glad that I left Chicago.

Gary, you live in WY? I have no idea why I've always thought you lived in MT and were transplanted from WY! Oy. I need to pay closer attention! So happy to hear you were top draw at the auction! (Pun wasn't intended but I'll leave it as it is so apropos! LOLOL) We got more snow yesterday too, though fortunately just another inch or two. Having driven in whiteout conditions, I can imagine how relieved you were to reach home!!

Great news about your work doing so well at the Winter Carnival auction! I had a similar deal this past weekend only driving there-and-back again to a photography show between Ohio and New York State with snow on the way home at night. No auction involved for me and in fact, sometimes when you attend an art show, you come to discover it's not always all about the art; there's an even bigger picture. Nice to hear about your mountains and stars.

Great painting! I'm not surprised that you got some bidding action on it. Glad you made it safely through the blizzard!
