I spent a few hours saturday working on this painting going from background forward and from upper left to lower left and then to the right. I have a preconceived notion of what I want this painting to look like and will progressively work that way then go back and touch up values, detail, and textures to hopefully pull it all together.

I like the feeling this painting is giving me - being in a mysterious glade peering through to a brighter world.

I am enjoying seeing your process (and progress) on this one. I find it interesting that, after doing the underpainting entirely, that you work each vertical section almost to completion before moving toward the right to the next section. I am going to consider doing this instead of working all my lightest values, then mid values and ending with the darkest darks. Working only in watercolors as I do, this would still allow me to try your approach, like I said....interesting!

Thanks, Girls for your comments.
I must stress, Susan that I do have a preconieved idea of what I think my painting will look like befor I start though as one goes along accidents will happen and a lot of them are good. I still continue painting with that original idea in mind. I also will go back a number of times to adjust and in finishing it I will still find things to fix.

Hi Gary,

Boy... you've been busy! Love "Frosted Meadow" (I love most things associated with snow) and the fawn pics. You've also done some beautiful paintings! Are you about back to your normal level of activity now?
