I have been working on this Oil Painting for about 3 weeks off and on and is a commission job for a collector I actually met on the trail out of Dubois a few years ago. It is 18"x24" and done in Oil from a photograph this fellow had taken. It was a great photo so well depicting the glacier country with Gannet Peak[highest point in Wyoming at 13,814']Such a beautiful area but sure is a job getting there. It was pure pleasure painting this scene.SOLD

I have been away for a week and look at all the work you have done. Will take some time for me to catch up on all.
All are so stunning as always.
Beautiful work.
i am amazed by the detail in this as well as the variety of colours. i wonder if it is difficult for you to work from someone else's photography?
Beautiful work Gary!
Absolutely beautiful, I love the colors, Gary. I have post a painting I recently finished; it is not near the caliber of yours but I hope you enjoy it and maybe even get a chuckle from it.

Gary this is a really beautiful rich, vibrant painting and I am not surprised it sold. Congrats. Thanks for your sweet comments at my blog so I wanted to hop over to you and wish you and your family a fantastic Christmas time.

While I love the entire, beautiful painting, I am especially drawn to that slope on the left that is most forward. The texture you achieved there is amazing! This will be a treasured painting for your patron.
Interesting you should mention that Susan. That was most dreaded when I began the painting and I approached it really impressionistically though it does come across very detailed. I used a single color across it [light]then hit the dark areas pretty much one value then a middle value here and there with additional touches of light and dark where I thought I needed it done. Actually only took about an hour and a half approached that way.
It's beautiful, Gary. I'm not sure I could accomplish this in a year. 3 weeks is remarkable for so much detail and beauty.
wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and many blessing for 2010!
best, Liz
