Passing within yards of Bighorn Sheep. We counted 13 Rams all sunning themselves in the rocks and brush. There are ten in this picture. We lost count on the number of Elk we jumped up and saw through glasses grazing on distant mountain parks. On top of the Rim we spotted several other bunches of both Rams and Ewes on the mountainside

My gallery pardner, Tom Lucas and I did manage to get out this morning and climb up onto Torrey Rim south of Dubois. With a hot cup of coffee in hand and in 4-wheel drive we chugged our way up the mountain passing many deer, elk and Bighorns on the way. With the early morning sun shining on mountains, glaciers, and wildlife everywhere we are sure we were truely blessed to participate in Natures show. It is inspirations like this that get the creative juices going. One can't help but want to get back to the easle and get that paintbrush going.

This spring has brought some unusual birds along the river. They occur only occassionaly but it has been years since I have seen harlequin Ducks such as this pair I photographed from my studio. The next day we had a pair of Cinnamon Teals which is the first I have ever seen. There have been an unusually large number of Varied Thrushes and Spotted Sandpipers too. A good friend of mine reported seeing Snow Geese just east of town. I have never seen them in this part of Wyoming.

This is an oil painting I have just completed. It is from the Turpin Meadows road along the Buffalo River in the NE part of Jackson Hole. The Buffalo River flows westerly from its origin in the vast Teton Wilderness and finally snkes its way across the Buffalo River valley befor entering the Snake River at Moran Jct. It is one of my favorite places to paint the Tetons from. This painting is 8"x16" and can be purchased through my gallery at silversagegallery@dteworld or thru my e-mail at gkeimig@dteworld.com

The Silver Sage Gallery is now pretty well completed. It is hard to believe what we have accomplished in a month of pretty much 7 days a week and long hours. We are really feeling good about the new addition, the remodeling and the art work we are carrying. Now we can get back to what we really do best. Creating Art.

Spring remains elusive in our part of the country. It was 17 degrees this morning and barely above freezing yesterday. The river flowing past my studio wears a cloak of white. The only signs of spring are some of the migrant arrivals such as this fairly rare[for our area] White Faced Ibis' Osprey have returned and are fishing on the river. A grizzly was put down after causing havoc at the Bitterrrot Ranch N E of town and other grizzlies have made their presence known north of town. I have been watching about 40 head of elk just west of town and they are getting impatient with the slow progress of warmer weather. Just
waiting for the snow to begin melting so they can begin their trek into the high country.

for today. It is a 6"x6 1/2" watercolor of the Pinnacles as viewed from the Moccasin Basin area west of Dubois, Wyoming. The days last light has cast a mystical haze over the volcanic peaks. Early fall has painted the willows along the Wind River, just a small stream at this point, a dull orange with purple shadows.
