Today I worked pretty diligently on my Aspen painting and have pretty well finished it. I see a few touchups I have to attend to but it is essentially finished.
ASPEN GROVE
15"x20" Gouache/Acrylic. on illustration board.
I see no problems in painting the acrylic over the thin washes of Gouache. That has been a question and only time will tell if that is a problem.

Hello Gary, so nice to meet you! Thanks for following my blog! I love your paintings! I am not much of a landscape painter and so many of what I see seem very ho-hum but yours are really wonderful! And that grandson is a real cutie! (My husband Bob's 12 yr. old grandson - my step-grandson- is a cutie too...my 34 yr. old grown up son isn't too bad either!). I'll be following. I love Wyoming!

Re your comment about my "visitor" - yes we get occasional Grizzlies here on the island also, although they aren't native here - they swim over from the mainland at low tide, island hopping. So far none have come to our little two acre property! We get Cougars around here also, Bald Eagles, Elk, deer, Orcas and Grey Whales - pretty fabulous and I sure hope we don't end up destroying this beautiful planet.

Gary, this is a beautiful painting with wonderful colors. But I absolutely love your paintings of The Grand Tetons..one of our favorite places to go. My husband and I love hiking there. The colors on those mountains!!! Hopefully, next year...! You do beautiful work and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your paintings. Thank you Gary for visiting my blog..its so appreciated.

Those aspens are gorgeous. I have to say, though, that I miss those purple colors that you grayed out. I know they were too bright before to stay in the background, but they were perfect against the aspens! This is not a critique, just an observation that made me sigh when I first saw this finished painting!

This is home! I know it well from the Northern Ontario forests though not the western mountains. Beautifully portrayed. A silence and wonder that is so difficult to catpure and you have done it with a still enchantment that is inspirational!

This is a beautiful painting Gary! I haven't been spending as much time visiting blogs lately but I am so glad I stopped by and saw this! And your painting of the Grand Tetons brings back memories. I saw them on a work visit to Wyoming (soda ash plant in Green River) probably 18 years ago. The natural beauty was one of the few things I liked about that trip.
