I had worked up the watercolor portion of my experiment over the weekend and now have begun using Acrylics and working my light and shadow as I go along with my detailing. It is turning out to be an interesting experiment.

This looks like a perfect way to present the sparkle of individual leaves unique to trembling aspens.

Vos bouleaux sont solennels et royaux.
J'aime le tronc de ces arbres et vous avez majestueusement ajusté le feuillage. Bravo!

This is turning out to be beautiful. There is a lot of life in those trees.

Very interesting.. yes. Love the Autumn (Fall) colors. I can't wait to see this one finished.

Great use of complementary purple and yellow! I may have to break out my acrylics for a painting I am working on now which has aspens. Thanks for the inspiration!

This is beautiful. I love the purple and gold together. I also like the freshness of this - it can be hard to tell from a photo, but I'm not sure it needs any more detail!

Interesting experiment Gary. Will the gouache not lift when you go over them with acrylics?

interesting thought, Eric. Will have to check that out. I would not think so being as how I paint in thin layers[more like washes. But will definitely have to look into that.

Gary...please do let us know if it lifts. I have decided to switch to acrylics for the end details of a large painting I am working on. I started in transparent watercolor, used gouache for the middle ground and foreground and decided to experiment with acrylics to finish the foreground details. I would be interested in hearing what you think. Since I am using Fall colors and painting aspens I will be watching for what happens.

Another beautiful Aspen painting in the works! Are you going to stay with acrylic to finish it or are you switching to oil later?

The bright yellow really sparkles over the deep blue... This is well on it's way to spectacular.
