I have pretty well finished the water on this painting touching up a little of the grasses as well. On to other paintings.
FIREHOLE RIVER 18"x24" Oil Painting on gessoed masonite.
This is one of the most beautiful of rivers coursing its way from S W corner of Yellowstone on past Old Faithful and joining with the Gibbon River to form the Madison River. One of the major streams in Yellowstone National Park.

Great job on the water, especially, Gary. I visited Yellowstone when I was only 12 and want to go back some day! AMAZING can't even begin to describe the scenery there!

Beautiful! I think that was the river we saw fogbound during our honeymoon (many years ago!) - it was a cold, crisp morning - bison were in a meadow just beyond, all of the hot springs, fumeroles, etc. were sending up tons of condensation - it was a dreamy picture - and stays in my mind. Thanks for reminding me of a wonderful moment in time!

Hey Gary,
I really am jealous of all the wonderful scenery that you are surrounded by (my plane ticket is booked and I should be with you in a day or two ;-)
You really captured the water brilliantly and the sunlight and shadows on the grass are so warm.
This is a big favourite, it makes me feel like I am there ;-)
I thought this was a photo!
Cheers,
Paul
