I think I am pretty well finished with this painting but will probably study it a while befor I make any final determinations. I have really fought the trees that are in the center and maybe I have them too centralized and tht is bothering me. We'll let it sit awhile. Maybe some gremlins will come by and take care of it?

The central trees do draw your eyes towards them. And then I notice the other, lighter and more golden trees. Whether that's good or bad depends on what kind of story you intend to tell with this scene as a whole. Your planned possibility to decentralize these trees shows you are already envisioning another way this could work. Sometimes even after having studied a puzzle for awhile, it can be best to walk away, take a break from even thinking about it, then return and take another look at it with fresh eyes.

I actually like the center trees, Gary. I see stands of trees like this all of the time and they just look and feel natural. The trees that are throwing me, however, are the distant faded green trees. Are those part of a private ranch/home and surrounding a property? Are they just random trees in the landscape? Just curious, not being critical at all, truly. Maybe it is because they are so green compared to the rest of the autumn grasses and trees...But I think this is one of my favorites of your landscapes. I think it is glorious and you've absolutely nailed the beautiful fall colors in the landscape! The receding mountains and the colors are spot on and just stunning! I really would love to be looking out my window at this day in and day out!

i love the light you have captured here, it seems to be bouncing off the trees and grasses on to that wonderful sky! i'm not going to say anything about the composition, personally, i like it.

thank you girls for your comments of support and advice. I tend to go along with CountryDreaming and am going to sit on this a while and work some more on it. I have an idea or two all ready to fix that center so stay tuned.

I love the way my eyes seem to be lead from right to left Gary, works for me)

It's beautifully done Gary, maybe if there was a little more empty space on the left or if one of the trees on the right was a little taller!
But then that's me, I love the colors!
