I spent some time last night working on my Gouache, Platte River. Blocking in the rest of the painting and doing a little more detail on lower left side and in the water. At least now you can see where I am wanting to go with this one.

Powerful natural composition.

Together with the wonderful artwork on your blog, your comments to me about the three seasons of this winter, next winter, and last winter are really making me want to travel to Dubois, Wyoming. Which winter month would you recommend as being the best?

We probably get more snow in June.
I used to hqave a little gallery-studio on the street next to a motel and one morning a fellow from that motel came in and said he was awakened in the middle of the night[this was on June,18th]by flashing blue lights reflecting off the wall of the motel room. "It even souded like a snow plow", he exclaimed. He looked outside and it "Was a snowplow!"
We had 8" that night.
HEE Hee!

I hate to be a yes person and just heap praise on you all the time sooooooooo I just want to say that this painting did not need a deer, maybe a teepee but not a deer.

Hi Les. Then I would have to explain where the indians were. Or. More time and energy painting indians. Of course maybe we could collaborate??
So when do I head to Jackson to pick you up at the airport? I'm sure old Spongebob would love to have his favorite neighbor around.

Gary- I am really impressed with what you do with gouache. I've never tried my hand at them, have been mostly a traditional style of watercolorist, but you just might have sent me off in a new exploration soon. The colors are brilliant, the effect of light spectacular. Of course it helps to have the spectacular light to paint in that we both have here in the West. Great piece, can't wait to see it finished.
