The Susan Black workshops are in full swing this weekend in Dubois and I was invited to go out with them the other mornig to do a little pleine aire painting. It was cold and about finishing time began raining but was great to be with other artists and to watch some of them work. Here is Heiner Hertling giving instructions to one of the workshop participants. There were about 15 of us that showed up this morning to paint the barns at the Wagon Box Ranch. John Seerey Lester had a group of folks just over the rise above.

Gary, you folks look like you're already having chilly weather. I'm still disgruntled with our hot weather. I love the first photo where the background mirrors the foreground painting. Everyone seems to use the same easel. I'll have to look into that model.

Your easels caught my eye, too. What's the set-up?
Such amazing vistas you have to paint.

guess you are right about the easles. Not intended but...the easles are the Sol Tek easle that Jim Wilcox designed and has a company our of Salt Lake City that builds them. I think if you goggle Jim Wilcox you will find them on his web site. They are pricey and I have found folks who love them and others that say they are a little pricey for what you get. I do like mine but did pay for it. Is easy to set up and take down and is very versatile. I am going to post some more pictures later of some of the instructors doing painting demos and I think some of them had Sol Teks. Believe me there are all kinds the participants are using.

Sheila, it is cool and even frosty mornings now but with the exception of a few days in the 50's it is up to 70 daytime. Perfect weather.
