My good friend, Les Llefevre, arrived last night and so I had him on the trail today for Jade Lake. It was a good vigorous hike and a beautiful area to hike in.

Absolutley beautiful...that's too bad about the bettle fatalities on our friends on the other side of the lake there!

They are all Whitebark Pines that are dead. Important Grizzly food so that is gonna have impacts for sure. The Whitebarks were hit devastatingly by Blister Rust and to the point of endangering their very existence. I was glad to see a number of young trees though that are looking pretty good. I have not seen much this year of the Pine Beetles so maybe they have run their course.??

Gary, thanks for checking out the old boots on my blog! and your latest oil are wonderful.

I love the west, and you are doing a great job of capturing it's beauty. I've joined your blog and look forward to more wonderful western art.

Gary,
Beautiful shot of Jade lake. Thanks for sending the two pics to me but I can't wait to see the rest of your Jade Lake photos so I can steal a couple to put on my blog since I forgot to take my camera.

will be done Les. Heard you had an exciting time under Boedicker Butte.

Gorgeous! We have a lot of LeFevers and LeFevres here in town...some are buried in our neighborhood in a small cemetery from the Civil War days. I bet they are somehow related to your friend.
