I have spent the better part of last week in Douglas, Wyoming at the Pioneer Museum Western Invitational Art Show that kicks off the Wyoming State Fair. It is a great little show put on by the Museum that I have been involved with since it first began about 30 years ago. They are a marvelous group of people that really know how to do an art show. Here I am doing the saturday afternoon Quick-draw which I took top money in. It was purchased by the Andersons. Mr Anderson is the speaker of the House in the Wyoming Legislature. I think my Laramie Peak Painting has found a good home.

Wow! Congrats on the "money" and the good home found for Laramie Peak. Such a "western sounding" name... makes me think John Wayne will ride over a ridge any time now! :-)

It is a little wetern sounding. It is a name used in a lot of SE Wyoming. Fort Laramie, famous along the Oregon Trail, Laramie, Wyoming-home to the only 4 year college in Wyoming,Laramie County-county where Cheyenne is located. Two Laramie Rivers-Main and North Fork, Laramie Range-mountain range with Laramie Pk being the highest point. All named after a french canadian fur trapper found killed by indians at the confluence of the 2 Laramie Rivers. Nothing is known about the fellow.
Your history lesson of the day.
